Insurance gives Clinton 50 yea

By Brian Lazenby

Dick Clinton had wanted to be a professional trumpet player, but that didn't work out.

But after 50 years of selling life insurance for MassMutual Financial Group, he wouldn't have it any other way.

"I love what I am doing," said Mr. Clinton, 72. "I'm in this business because I enjoy it, and I truly enjoy my clients."

He said the business has afforded him the opportunity to meet what he considers some of the nicest people in the Chattanooga area as well as pursue some of his other passions which are evident around his office.

His walls are adorned with a mounted whitetail deer, a mule deer, an antelope and a Dahl sheep, and there is a replica of the 100-plus pound tarpon he caught on a fly rod off the Florida keys.

"It has been a joy being at MassMutual all these years."

And he still has the opportunity to play his trumpet Replica YSL handbags with the Senior Citizens Orchestra and a jazz group known as Spectrum.

During his tenure, he has had an impact on a number of young salespeople such as Russ Blakely, who credits Mr. Clinton with getting him in the business.

Mr. Blakely said he had reservations about it because of the slick, fast-talking persona he envisioned as the typical insurance salesman, but that wasn't Mr. Clinton.

"He wasn't the picture I had of what an insurance salesman was," Mr. Blakely said. "I thought, 'I can be like Dick.'"

The two worked together for about six years before Mr. Blakely formed his own company, Russ Blakely and Associates, which primarily focuses on employee benefits.

Mr. Clinton's and Mr. Blakely's offices remain next door to each other.

"If I have someone who needs life insurance or estate planning work, I refer them to Dick," Mr. Blakely said.

Since 1959, Mr. Clinton has seen a number of changes in the industry, such as the type of products offered and the move toward mutual funds and financial planning, which he doesn't sell much.

"I feel like people have enough risk as it is without their insurance being part of that risk," he said. "I think life insurance should be a guaranteed thing they can count on. When they go to sleep at night, they don't have to worry about the value."

With 50 years behind him, Mr. Clinton is looking forward to many more.

"I will continue doing this as long as I am physically able," he said.

Jury deliberate over teen rape

VERDICTS were expected today in the trial of a Llanelli man who denies raping three teenage girls.

Judge Keith Thomas began summing up the case yesterday and deliberations by the jury of six men and six Swiss Army Watches women were due to start this morning.

Accused at Swansea Crown Court is 22-year-old Dean Cleobury, of Rhandir, Bynea, and formerly of Culfor Road, Loughor. Cleobury denies rape charges involving two girls aged 16 and one aged 15.

The youngest complainant was allegedly raped last August during a camping trip to Pembrey Country Park.

The court has heard that, at the time, Cleobury was on bail accused of wholesale lingerie sexually attacking the two other complainants.

He is alleged to have raped a 16-year-old five years ago, and another 16-year-old in 2008 after she fell asleep at a party.

Byline: JONATHAN McEVOY Motor Racing Correspondent reports from Melbourne

WHO said Formula One is boring? You might have got a processional race last time out in Bahrain and cursed the regulations that militate against overtaking, but get yourself along to St Kilda, Melbourne, and watch the 'hoons' go by.

Hoon is Australian for boy racer, the brake-smoking, tyre-burning scourge of pedestrians and police alike. So yesterday, while this city -- and the motor racing world -- held its breath over the entertainment level at tomorrow's Australian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton was acting up like a hoon. His car was impounded in this bohemian district for his skidding antics.

Replica Gucci Watches

You doubt he slept much last night, racked by guilt for being 'silly', as he phrased it. The law will take its rightful course -- and, my goodness, are they strict here about this sort of thing -- but at a human level this correspondent feels more sympathy than censure towards the miscreant.

Reflecting on this same race last year when he fabricated evidence to the race stewards, he arrived in town determined to show he could act in the right way. He appeared matured by the experience. More able to control his wilfulness.

But, embarrassingly caught out within hours of setting the fastest time in practice -- ahead of secondplaced McLaren team-mate Jenson Button -- he let himself down.

What would his dad, Anthony, with whom he severed his professional links, make of this? He would have read the riot act. For Hamilton, the furore might provide the spur to win the race. That would be some tonic for fans in Britain who were turned off by the processional yawn in Bahrain.

Thanks to regulations banning refuelling and introducing narrower front tyres, as well as the continued downforce/overtaking problems caused by double diffusers, the sport now faces a D-Day tomorrow more significant than Hamilton's relatively trifling misdemeanour.

Some hope a great race will set the season alight. But perhaps that Blancpain Replica Watches is the wrong idea. Maybe the sport needs an appalling race without rain, a safety car or a quirky track to help out. Such factors would merely disguise the inherent weaknesses in contemporary grand prix racing.

If the race is as boring as hell then perhaps the teams might bang their heads together to improve the show. They might put aside their selfish interests to think of the watching world. Radical reform, rather than tinkering, is needed. They could go back to refuelling. They could increase grip by making the front tyres wider so as to give cars more stickability when they close in on a car in front which throws up turbulent air. They might also do some of this before the season is over.

But should Melbourne be artificially thrilling then the impetus for improvement will be lost.

Some of the groundwork has already been laid. The teams have met to examine what can be done, with another summit meeting planned after the next race in Malaysia. Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren's team principal and the chairman of the teams' association (FOTA), is an advocate of a rootand-branch rethink. He said: 'The underlying problem is that we have a high quality of driver who doesn't make mistakes in cars that don't want to run astern because of the wake effect and we spend two days putting them in rank order (through practice and qualifying) so that the fastest driver-car combinations are at the front and the slowest at the re

My 10-point solution to Wenger

Byline: Sport's most controversial columnist Piers MORGAN

ONE of my favourite TV shows as a kid was Mission: Impossible. It had TV's greatest ever theme tune, and smart, sophisticated plotlines that made it the 24 of its day. Sadly, the star of the show, Peter Graves, who played the impossibly cool Jim Phelps, died last week, just before his 84th birthday in Los Angeles.

And as I scoured all the papers in LA for the obituaries, my mind turned to another Breguet Replica Watches apparent Mission: Impossible -- Arsenal's Champions League clash against Barcelona.

I'd like to pretend that I've been interested in anything else sportingwise this week. But that would be like that old gag about Abraham Lincoln's wife being asked after she watched his assassination in a theatre: 'Apart from that, Mrs Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?'

The truth is that ever since the draw was announced, I've been unable to sleep properly. I go to bed at 1am, and start seeing these horrific monsters bearing down on me -- Henry, Ibrahimovic, Bojan, At their sides, their powerful little warlords Xavi and Iniesta. And in the centre, Lionel Messi, the planet's most dangerous creature since the multi-spotted Maradona.

And I see no logical way out of the impending destruction and humiliation heading Arsenal's way.

But that's not how Jim Phelps would have seen it. For him, there was no such thing as Mission: Impossible. He'd have worked out a way to beat them, once he'd received his orders:

'Good morning, Jim, Your mission, should you decide to accept it, involves the theft of an apparently inevitable victory by the enemy, known as "Barca". You may select any 11 team members but it is essential that they all possess a big heart, a vast pair of lungs and the ability to scrap like polecats. As always, should any member of your team be caught napping at the back, or killed on the break, then the club will disavow all knowledge of your actions. You have 48 hours to work out your operation. This message will self-destruct in five seconds.'

I reckon Phelps would have come up with this 10-point plan:

1 Target Valdes. If there's a weak link in this team, then it's the gaffeprone keeper. He can't deal with 1 crosses, is erratic with long shots, and is so bad he's currently Spain's fifth choice goalkeeper. Arsenal must pepper him like an underseasoned rib-eye steak.

2 Attack the wings. Alves is a brilliant forward-charging full-back but he often leaves space at the back. So keep Arshavin high on the left flank. Maxwell is just as attacking as Alves but he doesn't have the energy. Stick headless chicken Walcott against him, Replica Tag Heuer Watches with simple-tounderstand (has to be very simple in Theo's case) instructions to run him ragged.

3 Whip endless, quick crosses into Bendtner. Barca are not a tall side, their defence is vulnerable to aerial assault and the Dane's good with his bonce.

4 Song must play as a sweeper in front of the back four, in the way Gilberto Silva did so successfully for years. Barca's offensive line-up is the best in the world, so we need reinforced defences.

5 Wind up Ibrahimovic. The Swede's a whiny, temperamental type, who must be getting thoroughly narked about Messi getting all the goals and all the glory. A frequent whisper-in-the-ear reminder of this fact is vital.

6 Show Thierry Henry the one thing he
